Partnership with JN Ervin Elementary
Reading Tutors
College Park Baptist Church has partnered with JN Ervin Elementary as a Reading Partner.
Volunteers work with the school for a minimum of one hour a week tutoring elementary school students with reading comprehension, fluency, and sight-word reading.
Many of the students we serve are in need of books. Please drop-off age appropriate books to the church.
We are facilitating a newly developed program, to serve 9th and 10th grade girls at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. Volunteers serve a minimum of 2 hours a week to help the students listen, concentrate and comprehend as they prepare to take the next standardized test.
The core curriculum has been generously provided by Michelle Stimpson’s We Gotta Read, a high-interest reading repository for reluctant secondary students.
Students are encouraged to write through journaling, and are encouraged to give a capstone presentation at the end of the tutoring session. Books and other incentives are provided to all students who complete the program.

After School Tutoring
Grades 1-12
We offer free after–school tutoring to help students with their homework, math and reading comprehension. Our after school tutoring is provided daily, Monday through Friday.
The program is open for school aged children in grades 1-12.

Background check Required
To volunteer, you must be willing to submit to a background check. All volunteers working with program partnerships with Dallas ISD campuses, require a background check to be on file with VOLY.
